TREATMENT FAQs

See answers to the most frequently asked questions below or feel free to get in touch if you'd like any information on any of the treatments or makeup services available. Book online for all consultations, brow, lash and skin treatments and semi-permanent makeup.

  • General salon etiquette...
    - To ensure client confidentiality and privacy, please arrive on time and no more than 5 minutes early to your appointment. - A patch test for various services must be carried out at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. - Please do not bring children to your appointment, as the clinic is not a safe environment for children. - The minimum age for treatment is 18 years. - If you need a chaperone, please inform us prior to your treatment. - You may pay for your treatment by cash, debit or credit card or via the online booking system.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
    - 48 hours notice is required to change or cancel an appointment to avoid a 50% charge of your treatment cost. - Please note that cancelled appointments will only be recognised with confirmation via email at lauraqueenmua@gmail.com or please leave a voicemail, text message at 07814539897 (Please do not send cancellation messages via social media sites including Facebook or Instagram as they are not always monitored daily). - To avoid unfair delays to other clients, if you are going to be delayed by 15 minutes or more to your appointment it may be necessary to reschedule. Please inform us as soon as possible if you are likely to be delayed.

  • Bookings
    All bookings are at the discretion of Laura Queen MUA. The booking is secure once the booking fee has been received. Trials take place at the studio in Norwich. Trials take place Monday - Friday. Brides can bring up to 1 other person to a trial. Between 1st May and 1st October, there is a minimum of 4 faces for makeup (bride + 3 adults) At other times (2nd October - 30th April) minimum booking of bride plus 2 others. For bank holidays an additional rate of £65 will be applied. Should additional artists be required for large parties or 5+ faces or early ceremony times, this is charged at £65 per artist. Please note that early weddings and multiple bridesmaids often mean early starts around 6am.
  • T&Cs Acceptance
    Deposit and booking fee indicates an agreement of my terms and conditions.
  • Payment Terms
    It is the responsibility of the person making the booking to make the final settlement of the total amount to Laura Queen MUA. Any deposits received by Laura Queen MUA at the time of booking are non refundable. Any outstanding payments for the wedding day must be paid by 2 weeks prior to wedding date. An invoice is provided with details.
  • Travel
    Travel is charged at 50p per mile from NR7 Client is required to cover charges for parking if required. Please contact us if there is limited parking available at the venue and could result in equipment being carried which could lead to delays. Please inform us of any road closures or restrictions if known ahead of time.
  • Correspondance
    All correspondence will be written/emailed between Laura Queen MUA and the client. It is the clients responsibility to inform the artist of any known allergies or sensitivities prior to application. It is the responsibility of the client to ensure that all bridal party members are available for makeup at the pre arranged time. No refunds or compensation will be offered by delays caused by other guests, suppliers, or members of the bridal party.
  • Photography
    The client agrees that we may use any images for website and social media pages. We will not publish any photographs of the bridal party or wedding preparations until after the wedding date. Please advise via email if you would object to photos being taken.
  • Cancellation Policy
    Notice of any cancellation partially (any member of the bridal party) or fully must be given in writing 4 weeks prior to the wedding date. Less than 4 weeks notice 100% of the booking required. We reserve the right to refuse service to any person with any infectious conditions, rude, abusive, unreasonable behaviour. If you decide to cancel the booking the following charges will apply 12 weeks prior to wedding 30% 8 weeks prior to wedding 50% 4 weeks prior to wedding 100% If you choose to cancel your booking after your trial. Payment for your trial is still required (£100)
  • Postponement & Date Changes
    We will be as accommodating as possible to transfer your booking to another date. If this is not possible a refund or compensation will not be offered.

  • What are the benefits of SPMU/
    You can expect to have long-lasting natural definition of the eyebrows, eyeliner and lips. Waterproof and sweat proof it is ideal for active lifestyles. It can create a more even finish than your regular makeup. Long-lasting, confidence boosting and a more polished appearance.
  • How long does SPMU last?
    Results can last anything from 1-3 years before requiring a colour boost. This is dependant on your skin type, health and lifestyle factors.
  • Does SPMU hurt?
    For most clients the treatment has minimum discomfort, if any. Numbing cream can be applied 30 minutes before your treatment for comfort.
  • How long does a SPMU treatment take?
    The first treatment will take approximately 2.5 hours. Including consultation, pre-draw, treatment and aftercare advice. Follow-up appointment 4-6 weeks later is up to 1.5 hours.
  • How will my SPMU look after my treament?
    Initially, your treated area will look more prominent due to minor swelling and fresh application. This will subside over the following week. You can expect your treated area to shed fine layers of skin as it heals. This process lasts 7-14 days. Everyone is different so this may differ. The colour will take a full 4 – 6 weeks to settle entirely.
  • What is the pre-care advice for my SPMU treatment?
    - In preparation for your treatment you should complete the healthcare questionnaire sent to you. - Any medications, and medical conditions past and present must be disclosed during your consultation prior to the appointment. - Avoid alcohol, fish oils, green tea, and painkillers and limit your caffeine intake 24 hours prior. This is to minimise bleeding during treatment. - Any brow waxing/threading should happen at least 1 week prior to treatment. - You can come with your usual makeup to your appointment.
  • What is the aftercare advice for my SPMU treatment?
    The area must stay clean and dry for 14 days post-treatment. You must minimise getting the area wet for 14 days. Including swimming, spa days and taking care whilst washing hair and cleansing skin. - Avoid excessive exercise 24 – 48 hours post-treatment. - Avoid alcohol 24 hours after treatment. - Avoid strong sunlight for 14 days. - Aftercare healing cream is provided and is to be used as directed. No other products are to be used in this area for the first 14 days. To minimise the risk of infection you must avoid touching, picking or scratching the area whilst it is healing. Doing so can compromise the success of treatment. An aftercare kit is provided to you at your appointment.
  • Who is NOT suitable for SPMU treatments?
    - If you are pregnant or breast feeding. - If you have blood clotting or bleeding disorders. - If you take blood-thinning/clotting medications. - You may need to seek GP’S advice for Diabetes, a weakened immune system or autoimmune disorders. This treatment is for over 18s only.
  • Who is suitable for SPMU treatments?
    Many of my clients have semi-permanent makeup (SPMU) for different reasons. It saves time getting ready and creates definition to enhance facial features. It's long-lasting and is ideal for holidays, swimming and those with active lifestyles. Many people opt for SPMU for medical reasons such as alopecia, hair-loss or chemotherapy. SPMU is completely safe and virtually painless. For most clients, the treatment has minimum discomfort, if any. Numbing cream can be applied 30 minutes before your treatment to aid comfort.
  • Notes on booking your SPMU treatment...
    - A skin test is required at least 24 hours prior to treatment. - Some medical conditions are contraindicated to treatment. - You are unable to have this treatment while pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • What is microneedling for?
    Microneedling can be used to give a fresher, healthier smoother complexion to dull skin. It is extremely beneficial in treating acne scarring, and enlarged pores. Hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles. All areas of the body can be treated however the most common are the face and neck, décolletage and hands.
  • Does microneedling hurt?
    A numbing cream can be applied 30 minutes before treatment to minimise discomfort. Most clients report minimal discomfort to no pain at all.
  • How long do results last?
    For general skin rejuvenation 3-6 months. A course of 3-6 treatments is required for long term treatment of acne scarring and hyperpigmentation. With a recommended maintenance treatment every 3-6 months.
  • How will my skin look after my treatment?
    Initially, your treated area will look more prominent due to minor swelling and fresh application. This will subside over the following week. You can expect your treated area to shed fine layers of skin as it heals. This process lasts 7-14 days. Everyone is different so this may differ. The colour will take a full 4 – 6 weeks to settle entirely.
  • What is the pre-care advice?
    - Avoid microneedling treatments a least 4 weeks after semi-permanent makeup, and other facial procedures. - Drink plenty of water - Avoid alcohol 24 hours before treatment.
  • What is the aftercare advice?
    After treatment, your treated area will be pink to red. This dissipates over the following 24 – 48 hours. - Avoid makeup for 24-48 hours after treatment. - Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 – 48 hours. - Avoid excessive heat for 24-48 hours. - Avoid self-tan for at least 7 days. - Avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks post-treatment. - A high-factor sunscreen of at least SPF 30 should be used on skin treated. - Avoid exfoliation or retinol, and active skincare for 1 week. - Avoid facial procedures, including anti-wrinkle treatments and semi-permanent makeup for 1-month post-treatment.
  • Who is NOT suitable for microneedling treatments?
    - You must be over the age of 18. - Clients that are pregnant or breastfeeding. - Clients with bleeding or blood clotting disorders, or take medication to thin blood. - Diabetes or a weakened immune system. - If you have active acne, open wounds, or sunburn.
  • What is a chemical peel?
    Chemical Peels help to stimulate new skin tissue growth to improve skin texture and tone. Revealing a smoother, radiant complexion. Peels are a liquid solution applied with a brush which works by lowering the skin's PH Level and loosening the connections between the dead skin cells, exfoliating them away and stimulating new healthy tissue growth.
  • What are the benefits of a chemical peel?
    Regular Chemical peels help to rejuvenate your skin as younger skin does. A more radiant, youthful complexion. Improved firmness and decreases fine lines and wrinkles. Peels can also improve acne scarring, pore size and hyperpigmentation.
  • Do chemical peels hurt?
    No, although you may feel a mild tingling/ flushing sensation during the treatment.
  • How will my skin look after my chemical peel treatment?
    There is minimal downtime after a peel. You may experience some mild redness after your treatment which dissipates over 24 hours.
  • Will my skin peel off?
    Most clients experience a mild peeling effect, similar to dry flaky skin which is usually present after 48 hours, this generally is present for a 3-5 days.
  • How often should I have a chemical peel?
    The recommended is a course of 3. This can be every 2-4 weeks, depending on the skin concern treated. Followed by a maintenance peel every 3-6 months.
  • Who should avoid chemical peels?
    - If are pregnant or breastfeeding. - If you have an allergy to Asprin. - If you are someone with a lot of allergies. - If you have sunburnt skin. - If you have any undiagnosed lumps lesions. - If you have skin cancer. - If you have taken Roaccutane within the last 6 months.
  • What is the pre-care advice?
    - Avoid facial shaving 24 hours prior - Suitable if at least 2 weeks before holidays/sun exposure. - 2-4 weeks after holidays/sun-exposure. - Avoid retinols 2 weeks prior. - Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior.
  • What is the aftercare advice?
    - Avoid Makeup 24 hours - Avoid exfoliating and active skincare for 1 week. - Avoid touching the skin for 24 hours. - Avoid alcohol for 24 hours. - Use gentle products on the skin as instructed for the next 3-5 days - Avoid heat and strenuous exercise for 48 hours. - A high Sunscreen SPF 30+ is recommended after treatment. - Avoid other facial treatments for 4 weeks post-treatment.
